WHAT:      Ms. Derek calls for an end to horse slaughter and asks Congress to
pass the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (H.R. 857).

WHY:        More than 49,000 horses were slaughtered in the U.S. last year at
two foreign owned slaughterhouses for human consumption in Europe and Asia. 
Tens of thousands more were exported live and slaughtered abroad.
