Horse slaughter

Why haven't I read anything about a Texas survey that found 72 percent of Texas voters are opposed to the slaughter of horses for human consumption?

I've read a few articles in the Star-Telegram about horse slaughter, but none with these statistics. National statistics for 1999 showed 81 percent opposed to horse slaughter for human consumption.

Even with those poll results, I wonder why we can't get our U.S. senators from Texas, Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, to become original co-sponsors of HR 857, a bill that would make horse slaughter for human consumption illegal nationally.
