Most Texans are opposed to horse slaughter, but what do those running for Governor of Texas feel about the subject??
Three Texas Gubernatorial Candidates are against horse slaughter in the United States. Former Congressman Chris Bell was a co-sponsor of the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act before he left office due to redistricting, and both Kinky Friedman and Carol Keeton Strayhorn have both publicly stated that they want horse slaughter to end in the United States. Below are Kinky Friedman's thought on horse slaughter.

These are Dallas Crown horses waiting for slaughter.  Do they look old, sick, crippled or crazy to you?

Mary Nash

"People lie.  And for so many years they’ve been lying about this horse slaughter plant.  They’ve been saying, 'Oh, all the horses over there are old and sick and crippled.'  Well that’s not right.  They’re just saying that so that nobody will question what they do."          Mary Nash, from "Blood Country...a Texas Shame."
