Subject: [againstslaughter] HB 6633 Passes House

House Bill 6633 passed unanimously out of the house today , and will move to the Senate after the spring break(4/3-4/19).
http://www.legis.state.il.us/legislation/fulltext.asp?SessionID=3&GA=93&DocTypeID=HB&DocNum=6633

HB 6633 removes the slaughter plants exemption from the IL EIA control act and CVI requirements.

This means, that all slaughter bound horses will have to be accompanied by an negative coggins test as well as  a health certificate.

We wrote this bill, to protect our healthy horses in the meantime, while we work to close the plant down.

The bill further requires that all IL horse auctions, provide a certificate to horse sellers making them aware that the horse they are selling may end up at the slaughter plant.

As you can see, we are trying to cover other issues as well.

So, now we will see how much this will cost our state to enforce this law at the plant!!!
