A list of the way each IL rep voted yesterday on SB 1921 will be posted as soon
as I receive it. Because the vote yesterday was postponed for consideration it
is as if the vote had never taken place, therefore the vote will not be entered
into the "public" record. We of course will contact all the NO voters
as soon as the list is available.
The vote yesterday was not a victory for EITHER side. I am still confident that
we will get this bill passed!!!!
We must now do as Carol posted, which is contact IL newspapers to show our
outrage at the ridiculous arguments used by representative Bill Black and Jim
Sacia. In our correspondence to the news media, you should also make
mention that
the HCI does NOT represent the horseman of IL, they are a mere 500 members who
are unpolled on this issue. The HCI should be ashamed of itself and the fact
that their promotion of horse slaughter will perpetuate this vicious cycle of
cruelty for horses. It should also, be noted that HARPS and its leader
Donna Ewing allowed themselves to once again prove that they DO NOT have the
welfare of horses in mind when they seek contributions from caring individuals.
Donna Ewing has NO business calling herself a "rescue" organizations.
She is merely a CON WOMAN!!!! Defrauding well intentioned people out of their
hard earned money for her own PERSONAL benefit. She needs letters, lots of
letters!!!!!
We also, need IL residents in the districts of Black and Sacia to take action in
these districts and contact these 2 reps to tell them how displeased they are
with the way they voted on this issue. We need to do this for all reps who
voted NO yesterday.
I need volunteers to help put together a list of the towns and cities that are
contained in each of the NO reps districts.
We also, need to contact our own individual veterinarians, and ask them if they
support the AVMA/AAEP stance and if they do, I would suggest that we all
shop around for a vet who does not support horse slaughter. After all, WE are
the ones paying their salaries. I will NOT use a vet who supports this
atrocity!!!!!
The AAEP needs to be held accountable for their actions, and we horse owners are
the only ones who can do this!!!! If your vet is against slaughter, have
him/her write a letter to the AVMA/AAEP in support of HR 857. If they do not
wish to take the time to do so, we have a form letter for them to sign and
submit.
Finally, please keep up the great work!! Remember, this is just a minor
setback, WE will get this bill passed. WE will never stop until we are rid of
this despicable trade in OUR country!!!!! If Cavel thinks this is over,
they better think again!!! It will not be over until the doors on the
plant are closed to horses FOREVER!!!!!
Thanks so much for all the hard work and dedication each and everyone of you
have put forth, you are all so amazing and I am so glad to be a part of this
family!!!
